First, a small ask
What to send us
Good messages are specific. Tell us what you are trying to do and what is getting in the way. One or two sentences on your situation usually beats a long explanation, because it tells us which guide to point you at.
If you are suggesting a topic, tell us why it matters to your household. If you are reporting an error, a link or the page name speeds things up more than anything else you could write.
- A quick question about a guide Which step you are on, what you tried, and what happened. If a swap did not work in your kitchen, that is still useful to know.
- A topic you want covered Composting in a flat, refill shops near you, or what to do with a particular material. Say where you are based so we can keep the guidance realistic.
- A correction or something out of date Council collection rules and product care instructions move on. Tell us the page and what you expected to see instead.
- A swap you have made that we missed If you have found a plastic free alternative, a bulk refill that works, or an upcycling project worth copying, describe it in a few lines and we will look at whether it fits the site.
The best guide suggestions are built from a real problem somebody is already living with.
Suggesting a guide topic
We build the site around problems readers actually hit, so suggestions genuinely shape what gets written next.
What lands well
Materials and situations with no obvious guide yet: repurposing old clothes into something you will actually wear, or composting food scraps at home when you share a kitchen with four other people.
What we cannot promise
A timeline, or that every idea becomes a page. If your suggestion fits the site's focus on UK households, it goes on the list and we will tell you when it is worked up.
A look at the kind of upcycling projects and ideas already on the site, so you can see where a new suggestion would sit.
Corrections are welcome
Reporting an error or outdated advice
Council rules, product care instructions, and shop details change. If a guide is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will check it. Include the page and what you expected to see instead — that is enough for us to act.
Corrections are a normal part of keeping an editorial site useful, and we treat them as a priority rather than a nuisance.
What to include in a correction
- The page
- The guide title, or the link if you have it open. Both help us find the exact paragraph.
- What it says now
- A short quote of the sentence that looks wrong. Rewriting it from memory is fine too.
- What you expected
- Where you saw the different figure or instruction, and roughly when. A council page, a refill shop sign, a product leaflet — any of those helps.
- Whether you want a reply
- Say so if you just want it fixed quietly. We will leave your name and details out of anything we publish.

Where to go instead
What we cannot help with
We cannot give personalised advice on your specific home, and we do not sell or supply products. That keeps the guides honest — everything here is written from the reader's side of the counter.
- Urgent council matters Missed collections, bin allocations, or a fly-tipping report. Your local authority handles these directly and will be faster than us.
- Product faults and returns The retailer is the right route. We can tell you what to look for before you buy again, but we cannot take a return on anyone's behalf.
- Tradespeople and collections We do not recommend tradespeople, and we cannot arrange waste collection or a bulk pickup for you.
- Sponsored placement We do not run paid product placements inside guides. If you represent a refill shop or a small maker and want to be checked as a real option, write to us the same way a reader would.
A realistic expectation
Response times
This is a small editorial team, so replies can take a few days. Simple questions are usually answered sooner than detailed ones. If you have not heard back after a week, feel free to send a short follow-up — we would rather get a nudge than leave a question unanswered.
How we handle a message
- 01 It lands with the editorial team and gets read alongside the other notes that week.
- 02 If a published guide already answers it, we send the link. If not, it becomes a candidate for a new page or an added section.
- 03 Corrections are checked against the source before anything is edited, and we reply when we have an answer either way.
- 04 If your message leads to a guide, we will not publish your name or details without asking you first.

Questions we are asked most
Do you answer every message?
No. We read everything, but a small team cannot reply in detail to every note. Questions we can answer briefly usually get a short reply; longer topics often turn into a guide instead, which serves more readers.
Will you write about my local refill shop or service?
We cover the topic, not individual venues, and we do not run paid placements. If a reader route to buying in bulk or refilling containers has changed in your area, that is a correction worth sending and we will check it.
Can I send photos of an upcycling project?
Describe it in the message first. If it fits the site's simple upcycling projects line and we want to see more, we will ask for images and for your permission before anything is published. Nothing is posted without your say-so.
What is the difference between upcycling and recycling?
Recycling breaks a material down and builds something new from it; upcycling keeps the object roughly whole and gives it a better use, like turning a glass jar into storage rather than melting it. Both matter, but the guide pages linked above each explain one route properly.
